Campers will be instructed on the basic skills required to succeed at a top rowing college. Our campers represent a variety of athletic backgrounds. Many have never rowed before, while some have extensive high school experience. We will tailor the camp experience to fit the needs of the individuals. The camp will be staffed by University of Wisconsin coaches and oarsmen. The staff/camper ratio will be kept low to ensure safety and individual attention. Health services staff will be on call to offer assistance. All sessions of Badger Sports Camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.

The Rowing Elite Summer Camp is designed for novices advancing in the sport. Our program prides itself on taking novice athletes and transforming them into elite oarsmen. Campers will receive one on one instruction from current Wisconsin coaches and rowers to learn the fundamentals of the stroke in our state of the art moving water rowing tank and stationary rowing machines before heading out onto Lake Mendota to row in barges and 8s. Thinking about rowing in college? Curious about what the typical day of a collegiate athlete is like? The University of Wisconsin Men’s Rowing Camp is a six-day introduction to competitive collegiate rowing. Athletes of all levels are encouraged to attend - from those who have never rowed before to those with extensive high school experience. With a low camper to staff ratio, individual attention is provided so that practices and instruction can be tailored to meet the distinct needs of each camper.

A typical day will consist of 2-3 workouts, which include a mix of on the water training on Lake Mendota, technical sessions in our moving water rowing tank, an introduction on how to more effectively approach erg testing, core and strength instruction, and cross training.
