Campers will be instructed on the basic skills required to succeed at a top rowing college. Our campers represent a variety of athletic backgrounds. Many have never rowed before, while some have extensive high school experience. We will tailor the camp experience to fit the needs of the individuals. The camp will be staffed by University of Wisconsin coaches and oarsmen. The staff/camper ratio will be kept low to ensure safety and individual attention. Health services staff will be on call to offer assistance. All sessions of Badger Sports Camps are open to any and all entrants, limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.

Come join the Badger Men's Rowing team and learn the basics of rowing at our state-of-the-art Porter Boathouse. Camp sessions will be led by the UW Coaching staff along with current student-athletes. This camp is a great opportunity to learn more about the basics of the sport, along with what it takes to row at the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Madison! This camp is open to any and all male entrants grades 9-12.

Price: $40 per camper

The Rowing Elite Summer Camp is designed for novices advancing in the sport. Our program prides itself on taking novice athletes and transforming them into elite oarsmen. Designed for the total beginner (from no rowing experience up to only a few weeks), this camp will help these novice rowers learn the sport, improve their skills, and gain experience in the sport of rowing. Campers will receive one on one instruction from current Wisconsin coaches and rowers to learn the fundamentals of the stroke in our state of the art moving water rowing tank and stationary rowing machines before heading out onto Lake Mendota to row in barges and 8s. Open to any and all entrants entering grades 9-12 in the Fall of 2026.

Price: $100 per camper

Check-in: Tuesday, June 23rd from 10:00-11:00am at the Porter Boathouse.

Check-out: Wednesday, June 24th from 4:00-4:30pm at the Porter Boathouse.

Housing: All participants will be housed in Sullivan Residence Hall.

Meals: All meals will be enjoyed at Four Lakes Market, starting with lunch on June 23rd.

Thinking about rowing in college? Curious about what the typical day of a collegiate athlete is like? The University of Wisconsin Men’s Rowing Camp is a six-day introduction to competitive collegiate rowing. Athletes of all levels are encouraged to attend - from those who have never rowed before to those with extensive high school experience. With a low camper to staff ratio, individual attention is provided so that practices and instruction can be tailored to meet the distinct needs of each camper.

A typical day will consist of 2-3 workouts, which include a mix of on the water training on Lake Mendota, technical sessions in our moving water rowing tank, an introduction on how to more effectively approach erg testing, core and strength instruction, and cross training. In addition to skilling and drilling, campers will have the opportunity to race in 8s, 4s, pairs, and singles, with the goal of maximizing boat speed and conditioning. Planned outings are scheduled to explore UW-Madison’s beautiful campus, including activities at Camp Randall Stadium, Memorial Union, and State Street. Open to any and all entrants entering grades 9-12 in the Fall of 2026.

Thinking about coxing in college? Want to learn more about what it takes to be a confident, impactful, and successful cox for your crew? The University of Wisconsin Men’s Coxswain Camps are designed to help high school coxswains improve their technical, communication, and leadership skills, all with the goal of helping their crews increase effectiveness and efficiency on and off the water. This camp will provide an informative and fun introduction to competitive collegiate coxing. A typical day for cox campers will consist of two small group instruction and discussions sessions with coaches combined with three workout sessions on and off the water to put their skills into action.

Cox campers will have opportunities on the water on Lake Mendota and on land inside the state of the art Porter Boathouse in our moving water tank to practice their skills. Campers can expect to gain greater knowledge in areas including: clear and effective communication, shell safety and steering, recognizing and providing technical feedback, preparing to race and compete, helping lead and run efficient and effective practices, leadership and motivation, and building great relationships with their teammates. Campers will review recordings of top US coxswains and receive feedback from coaches on their own recordings. Cox campers will leave Madison more confident in themselves and their ability to support their crews.

In addition to skilling and drilling, cox campers will have the opportunity to race in 8s and 4s with the goal of maximizing boat speed. Planned outings are scheduled to explore UW-Madison’s beautiful campus, including activities at Camp Randall Stadium, Memorial Union, and State Street.
